Few lines on Dhanushkodi...no we did not go up there,...It was already getting dark,by the time we went up to the sandy stretch between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi....and even if we wanted, we could not make it for a very sinple reason...You need special vehicles to navigate on that sand,,sundaram"s qualis would just be not competent.But one word about the road and the place."the end of the world" would describe it in nutshell...The silent, sultry casuarina groves along the way would make you think that any thing could happen there without anybody getting the wiser...The wikepedia desribed the place as " entire 15 KM stretch is very lonely and the place is notorious for drug peddling, trafficking, rape, waylaying and robbery after dark ".yup... We did not read it at that time, but it was exactly how it struck us....It seemed a fit place for two sets of contrasting characters....mafia men and philosophers out to contemplate on nature, the other set is failed lovers or honeymooners,who are so wrapped up in themselves...
But the sea was a delight...pure, wild and choppy it sprayed foam and sand so much that those of us, who had spectacles had to remove them or else they were going all misty.the playful mood was so infectious that even urs truly who usually would not join in,went in and wetted her toes
